Episode
China

China is undertaking a significant energy transition, aiming to increase renewable energy generation and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

China plans a 50% increase in renewable energy generation, from 22 trillion kWh in 2020 to 3.3 trillion kWh in 2025. This includes increasing capacity from solar, wind, hydropower and other renewable sources.

China aims to achieve a 33% share of renewable electricity by 2025, compared to 28.8% in 2020. This means that a third of the electricity consumed in China will be generated from renewable sources.

China is making significant investments in renewable energy infrastructure projects, including the construction of large-scale solar and wind farms. This includes the development of solar parks and offshore wind farms.

China is also working on reducing coal consumption, which is a highly polluting energy source. The country is seeking to diversify its energy matrix, gradually replacing coal with renewable sources.
